The Surgery Center is a 40,000-square-foot expansion of Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. The center houses eight procedure rooms — five operating rooms, two endoscopy suites and a minor procedure room.
The operating rooms were designed to include the latest technology, including a da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Robotic surgery replaces traditional surgery incisions with multiple tiny, minimally invasive entry points. This reduces recovery time from weeks to days with fewer complications. It’s a great option for patients who need surgery but don’t want to be sidelined by a prolonged recovery.
All rooms are completely private. In addition, the Surgery Center features a new family waiting area, which puts families closer to physicians, patients and nurses during surgeries. The Surgery Center is connected to the community entrance, meaning family and visitors to the Surgery Center do not have to leave a building to access the cafeteria, pastoral care, patient tower or outpatient entrance.
