Outpatient wound care services at Via Christi provide comprehensive treatment for chronic wounds, which are usually described as wounds that have not shown significant healing in four weeks or completely healed in eight weeks.
With a doctor's referral, our highly qualified staff evaluates the wound in conjunction with a patient's overall health. Additional testing, including wound culturing, may be requested to help determine the most effective approach to treatment and ongoing care.
A treatment plan will then be developed with the referring physician and the patient and later adapted as necessary. The tools for treatment may include a whirlpool, electrical stimulation, vacuum assisted closure and patient and family education. Additional services, including nursing care, physical therapy, nutritional considerations or pharmaceutical interventions, may also be recommended.
