This class is offered to expectant fathers in a support group-style. Veteran dads who have previously attended the class bring their little ones to the class and talk about delivery, adapting to the addition to their family, differences in opinions about parenting, helping mom after leaving the hospital, and taking care of baby. Veteran dads may allow attendees to hold their baby during class.
Male nursing staff facilitate the class and offer suggestions about newborn care, supporting mom to reduce postpartum depression, and helping with the newborn to promote breastfeeding. We prefer men only in the class however, there is a breastfeeding class offered at the same time if mom wants to attend. Dads are welcome in the breastfeeding class as well.
