Hometown: Cheney, Kansas.

First job: I worked on a pig farm when I was 14 years old.

Why I chose OB/GYN: I knew I wanted to go into OB/GYN on the first day of rotation. The patients are generally happy and a healthy population. I love that I can develop a great relationship with my patients.

What I like about Wichita: The people are down-to-earth, there is plenty to do and a lot of good restaurants. I like that you can get to the country quickly.

Best advice for patients: Relax and enjoy the process. You have waited your whole life for this.

Hobbies and interests: I enjoy fishing, hunting, golfing, cooking and helping coach my kids' sports and activities. I recently finished building a man shed at my house.

In my next life: I would be a professional fisherman or a chef.

Most important thing I have learned: Treat everyone the same and be polite, fair and humble.

I just can't resist: Hot dogs—my wife makes the best pigs in a blanket.
