On Dec. 31, 14 babies were delivered at Ascension Via Christi St Joseph, a hopeful finish to what has been a difficult year for families worldwide. The hospital's first New Year's baby didn't arrive until mid morning.
Justin and Christa Morgan welcomed Boaz Justice, their fifth child and first son, at 10:08 a.m. He weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces.
Their nurse, Laury Droste, has served in the St. Joseph NewLife Center for 30 years and was filling in for a coworker. Justin's father, OB/GYN Randall Morgan, delivered all three of Droste's children, so she was thrilled to be helping care for his newest grandbaby.
"Every delivery is special, but that made it even more so," says Droste, adding, "It never gets old!"
