The Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Flower and Gift Shop will be reopening as of Monday, July 6, and be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
"We're able to open at St. Francis because it is staffed by paid associates," says Susan Delling, director of Guest and Volunteer Services. The other Wichita hospital flower and gift shops are staffed by volunteers and no date has been established as yet when they can return. "We are so excited because our shops are more than a place to purchase items. They are a place of solace for busy staff and visitors who just need a moment away from the bedside."
To celebrate the reopening, all home decor, jewelry, apparel and select food items will be discounted by 25 percent through July. Full details of the sale will be posted in the shop.
Only six customers will be allowed in to shop at any given time and, like elsewhere in the hospital, they must be masked.
"Staff and visitors have missed the opportunity to support patient care by shopping in our gift shops," says Delling, noting that all proceeds go to support initiatives that benefit patients.
Remodeling of the Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Flower and Gift Shop, which is part of a larger project that will include an outpatient pharmacy and adjacent new first-floor space for the walk-in Breastfeeding Clinic, is under way for completion later this summer.
