When Jessica Vaughters awoke Thursday morning, she turned on the news and it was full of information about the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"God spoke to me and told me, 'You have to do something,'" says the single mother of two.
So she woke up Alizaya, 10, and Eliana, 4, and began making the signs that they would later bring with them to area hospitals, including Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph an Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, to show their gratitude and support.
"Thank you 4 protecting us all...We (heart) you!" was the collective message on the three hand-colored signs.
Jessica, who until recently was working as a waitress, says she'll be helping sanitize one of the local grocery stores this weekend.
"I just want to do anything I can to help," she says.
From the looks of the faces on the staff who stopped to visit with the family on their way in and out of the hospitals, she certainly is helping the helpers.
