Sunflower Health Plan, in collaboration with its parent company, Centene Corporation, has recognized Wichita pediatrician John DuPuis, MD, of Ascension Medical Group Via Christi, with a national award for clinical excellence.
The award acknowledges the extraordinary efforts made to deliver quality pediatric care and clinical excellence to Sunflower members. Dr. DuPuis earned the award for his quality statistics in infant well care visits, lead screenings and recommended immunizations.
"Dr. DuPuis and his staff have demonstrated the proactive engagement needed to close care gaps and educate parents on the best healthcare for their children," says Michael Stephens, president and CEO for Sunflower Health Plan. "We’re proud to recognize him for the quality care he gives his patients."
Scott Latimer, MD, chief medical director for Sunflower Health Plan, presented the award to Dr. DuPuis at a special Dec. 6 celebration held at the Ascension Medical Group Via Christi clinic located on the Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa campus near 21st and 151st Street West.
Dr. DuPuis joined Ascension Via Christi in 1992. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatrics/Sports Medicine.
Pediatrician Philip Newlin, MD, chief medical officer for AMG Via Christi, says he was not surprised to learn of Dr. DuPuis’ award.
“Dr. DuPuis and his team do excellent work,” said Dr. Newlin, who has worked closely with Dr. Dupuis since 1992. “Their commitment to employing best practices helps keep children and our community healthy.”
