Via Christi staff members had a lot of fun meeting Wichita-area ladies at the 2015 Women's Fair last weekend at Century II.
We took nearly 450 photos at our photo booth, which we shared with the American Heart Association in a "go red" theme to promote heart health. Be sure to check out our Facebook photo album and tag yourself and your friends if you were there.
We randomly selected one winner for three prizes — products from Ascension Via Christi Weight Management, a gift basket of hair care products donated by JCPenny and a tote bag from the American Heart Association. Our winner, Tema Travis of Wichita, has a good reason to "go red" — her Pop Pop.
"Pop Pop was my grandfather, Everett Abbott," Tema says. "He struggled with diabetes and heart disease for as long as I can remember. I remember being a little girl and wondering what his beautiful necklace around his neck contained. I would later learn that those were his Nitro tablets — in case of emergency.
He was always so positive and full of life even with his health conditions. He had a rhyme or a tune for anything and everything. His wife and three daughters were his inspiration, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant more to him than life itself. For me, he is the perfect example of a man for my three boys and I feel truly blessed that he was able to grace them with his presence."
Congratulations, Tema, and thanks for sharing your reason for going red!
