Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa’s Emergency Department recently was recognized with a PRC Five Star Excellence Award for being in the Top 10 percent in the nation for overall quality of care.
Professional Research Consultants, or PRC, is one of the nation’s leading healthcare research firms.
The achievement was celebrated Friday, April 5, with treats, lunch bags and personalized certificates for every team member, together with recognition by hospital and ER leadership.
“An accomplishment like this truly takes a village,” said Robyn Chadwick, St. Teresa’s senior leader, in expressing her appreciation to all the clinical and support team members who provide such exceptional care.
Matthew Sinnwell, MD, who serves as medical director for the St. Teresa ER, and Brenda Larson, St. Teresa’s chief nursing officer, also were among those on hand to offer their kudos and thanks.
Said Larson to the group: “I keep being congratulated by everyone for this wonderful award, but the credit really belong to all of you.”
However, the comment that perhaps best expressed what makes the St. Teresa ER worthy of such recognition came the day before in the form of a patient Facebook post.
“We absolutely love St. Teresa. Always such a friendly staff and feel very taken care of any time we have an emergency,” the woman wrote, noting that “is typically a couple of times of year due to asthma. We recently had an experience in another state with a different ER and it really made me appreciate the cleanliness, efficiency and knowledge that our hospital staff has.”
She went on to thank the team “for helping my little girl feel better and treating her so kindly.”
