One Wichita-based healthcare provider made Forbes’ inaugural list of America’s Best-in-State Employers 2019: Ascension Via Christi.
“We are ranked No. 14 for all qualifying Kansas employers and are the only healthcare provider in south-central Kansas,” says Don King, chief executive officer for Ascension Via Christi, which statewide employs approximately 6,000 associates. “We are humbled to be included on this list, as one of only three Wichita-based non-governmental employers to be recognized.”
Forbes and Statista selected America’s Best-in-State Employers based on an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people in their U.S. operations. The surveys were administered in a series of anonymous online panels and provide a representative sample of the U.S. workforce. Employees were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family as well as to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.
“At Ascension Via Christi, we are committed to providing the right care to every patient, every time and ensuring that our associates have the skills, training and resources they need to provide that care,” says Carla Yost, chief nursing officer for Ascension Via Christi. “That focus on quality is a key contributor to our being one of the state’s best places to give and receive care.
Kevin Strecker, Ascension Via Christi hospital president and chief operating officer, agreed, adding, “It’s great to see our collective efforts acknowledged in this way as we continue to work to find ways to further improve patient outcomes and the patient and family experiences of those who come to us for care.”
