Ascension Medical Group Via Christi dedicates expanded OB/GYN clinic

Suffering from growing pains, the Ascension Medical Group Via Christi OB/GYN clinic at 1515 S. Clifton moved into its newly remodeled and greatly expanded fourth-floor space in late 2020.

A virtual blessing and dedication of the new approximately 12,000-square-foot space will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, on Ascension Via Christi’s Facebook Live page.

The expansion tripled the clinic’s previous fourth-floor space, providing room for OB/GYNs Matthew Voth, MD, Andrea Fullerton, MD, Janey Maki, MD, and Jonathan Scrafford, MD, to be joined by maternal-fetal specialist Michael Wolfe, MD, and urogynecologist Simon Patton, MD. It also provides room for additional OB/GYN providers as the practice continues to grow.

The project began in March and was completed three months ahead of schedule, allowing the clinic to begin offering a full range of Women’s Health services in one convenient and comfortable location with ample room for social distancing.

“Our OB/GYN specialists are extremely busy and they required more space to keep up with the demand for OBs who deliver at the NewLife Center at St. Joseph,” said pediatrician Philip Newlin, MD, chief medical officer for Ascension Medical Group Via Christi. “I think everyone is more comfortable now that we have room to spread out in a well-designed patient- and provider-friendly environment."

Prior to the interior expansion and renovation, the medical office building, which is connected by tunnel to Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph, underwent an exterior renovation. That project included all new windows and signage and resurfacing of the parking lot.

Conco was the general contractor and Alloy Architecture the project architect on both projects.
