The American College of Radiology has designated Ascension Medical Group Via Christi Imaging in Wichita as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence – making it one of only two in south-central Kansas and five statewide to have achieved accreditation in all breast imaging modalities.
The BICOE designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to its mandatory mammography accreditation program.
“From first screening to biopsy and diagnosis, high-quality imaging is vitally important,” says breast surgeon Patty Tenofsky, MD, of Ascension Medical Group Via Christi. “This accreditation provides an added layer of assurance and confidence for patients and their breast care team.”
Becoming a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence requires a significant amount of work as well as a strong commitment to quality, says Larry Leopold, business manager for AMG Via Christi Radiology.
“It takes the entire team to ensure that our breast imaging devices and practices meet and in many cases exceed ACR standards,” says Leopold. “I’m proud and grateful for everyone’s ongoing efforts to set the gold standard in breast imaging for south-central Kansas.”
